In 2006, Andrew Lee Chong founded ALC Group with a clear vision: to build a leading Singapore-based marine surveying business serving the region. Drawing on his extensive Southeast Asian client network and experience as Co-Founder and Head of Marine at a major international adjusting firm, he established ALC Consulting Services Pte Ltd. What began with a single workstation in a 150-square-foot office in the Tuas shipyard zone has grown from strong foundations and a commitment to trusted marine expertise.

By 2009, the ALC Group had grown significantly. The team expanded to include seven Singaporean maritime experts, prompting a relocation to a 2000 square foot office in Ubi, just on the outskirts of the Central Business District.

In 2010, the company initiated its next phase of strategic growth with the appointment of a dynamic new management team. Captain Baharudin, previously the Managing Director of Insight Marine Services, was appointed Principal Surveyor. Sunu Lazar, one of the industry’s most recognized Class 1 Marine Engineers, assumed the role of Technical Director. Complementing their technical expertise, Jason Lee left his position at Goldman Sachs to spearhead business development, driving expansion into new segments and regional markets

Between 2010 to 2019, ALC Group evolved into a robust regional operation. The team grew to 22 personnel, combining technical maritime experts with dedicated business support roles. To better serve our regional clients and manage the increased maritime assignments across Indonesia, we established an Indonesian subsidiary in Jakarta (2012), followed by satellite offices in Batam (2012) and Makassar (2018).

Facing the global pandemic from 2020 to 2023, ALC Group demonstrated operational agility and resilience. Despite the near-total halt in maritime activities during the height of the lockdowns, the unwavering support of our international clientele allowed us to bounce back rapidly once borders reopened. Most importantly, we are proud that all our staff remained steadfast throughout this challenging period—a testament to the family values of ALC Group.

In 2024, ALC Group began a significant new chapter by joining ERGET Group, a Paris-based MNC with over 40 years of history. Led by CEO Ludovic Redier, ERGET Group is a family-owned enterprise and a leading multi-specialist in corporate risk across Europe and emerging markets. This acquisition marks a vote of confidence in our team’s capabilities . ALC Group is proud to assume the role of regional lead, driving ERGET Group’s strategic interests and growth in South East Asia and the Asia Pacific.
